SENIOR RESEARCH ASSOCIATE (Full-time, Fixed term until 31 May 2025)

Salary on appointment will be £35,333 per annum, with an annual increment up to £42,155 per annum.

Applications are invited for the post of Senior Research Associate to undertake research in collaboration with Dr Harry T. Dyer and Dr Simon Hammond to explore early years digital literacies in the landscape of YouTube Kids.
 
This project aims to explore YouTube Kids as a key space for early years digital literacies, exploring content on the platform and how it is used by young children, families/carers, and practitioners in the Norfolk area. 
 
The primary role of the post holder is to co-ordinate and support a high-quality qualitative programme of research aiming to explore early years digital literacies through engagements with YouTube Kids views. 

You will be expected to take a leading role in organising, conducting, collecting, analysing, and disseminating qualitative research that intersects the fields of education, digital sociology, cultural studies, and critical media studies.

The research will be based at the University of East Anglia in the School of Education and Lifelong Learning.  
 
Essential requirements for this post include a PhD (or close to completion) equivalent relevant professional experience in suitable area (digital sociology, cultural studies, early years education), significant previous experience of independent research, and the ability to meet the essential criteria set out in the personal specification. 

A flexible approach to working will be required as some online interviews may need to take place outside core hours to fit with the needs of participants and care-experienced co-researchers. It is anticipated that data collection will take place in person in Norfolk during the term of the contract, which may include travelling to participants across Norfolk as needed.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
