Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer in Computing Sciences
(2 Posts, Indefinite)
Ref: ATR1639

£53,353 to £61,823 per annum

The School of Computing Sciences is on a trajectory for growth across our teaching, research and innovation portfolio. Within our forward plan we are looking to further develop and expand our portfolio across our main Computing Sciences programmes and links with stakeholders and local agencies in the sector to respond to the needs of industry through our undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

We now wish to appoint two Associate Professors/Senior Lecturers in Computing Sciences. We are interested in candidates who can contribute to both our course offerings and research portfolio. We are particularly interested in candidates who share an enthusiasm and drive to assist in the exploration of new research opportunities linked to areas such as Machine Learning, Data Science, Games Design and Graphics and Artificial Intelligence.

You will be expected to have a PhD in a relevant area with a sustained track record of REF-returnable journal publications and research grant income as well as an excellent track record of teaching in a Higher Education environment, in terms of module management and delivery in subject areas linked to core Computing Science subjects.

The successful applicant will have, or be willing to work towards, a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education or Fellowship of Advance HE (FHEA) within an agreed timeframe.

You will be expected to have a track record of attracting research funding from government funding agencies such as EPSRC or industry in related domains and will also have a portfolio of recent research publications in prestigious international journals or flagship conference proceedings in the domain.   It is also desirable that the successful applicant has an extensive network of national and international collaborators from academia, government and industry.

You will have experience to undertake project supervision and advisory roles at both undergraduate and MSc/PhD level and engage with a range of relevant administrative roles and outreach activities to support the mission of the School.

We strongly encourage applications from women and all those from Black, Asian or other minority ethnic backgrounds and welcome applications from all protected groups as defined by the Equality Act 2010. Appointment will be made on merit.

The University is committed to building a culturally diverse institution where all staff and students can flourish and feel valued for their contribution and individuality. All appointments are made on merit. Our policies and practices are designed to encourage talented people, whatever their background, to work and study here. Work-life balance, family friendly policies and staff benefits are described at Staff Benefits - Working at UEA - About.

The two full-time posts are available immediately on an indefinite basis.

Closing date: Thursday 17 November 2022

Note: Where a Candidate does not meet all the expected criteria for Associate Professor/Senior Lecturer, they may be considered for a Lectureship if they meet the required criteria for that level.

The University is committed to diversifying its workforce. As examples, we already hold an Athena SWAN Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality. We also have a Vice-Chancellor led Taskforce on Tackling Racism and a Race Equality Charter Working Group which support our work on race equality. Our aim is to submit to the Race Equality Charter in 2024.
