Salary on appointment will be £35,333 per annum, with an annual increment up to £42,155 per annum

As a Senior Research Associate in Bioinformatics, you will carry out research and provide analytical support for biomarker development in the Cancer Genetics Diagnostics Laboratory. Specifically, you will be working on a Prostate Cancer UK and Movember Foundation Research Innovation Award study to validate the PUR (Prostate Urine Risk) test for prostate cancer; develop transcriptomic molecular subtypes in prostate cancer for use in the clinic, and to determine whether mitochondrial DNA is a potential non-invasive biomarker for cutaneous melanoma.

Experience in clinical statistics, significant postdoctoral experience, data management and cancer research is an advantage. You should also have well-developed analytical and practical skills, programming skills, an enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary environment and the ability to interact and communicate effectively with scientists from other disciplines, including clinicians, scientific computing, IT and biologists.
