Associate Professor in Mental Health Law (part-time up to 0.2fte)

£53,353 to £61,823 per annum, pro rata
We are seeking to recruit an outstanding academic in the field of Mental Health Law. Applications are particularly welcomed from candidates with teaching or scholarship experience in Mental Health Law.
This exciting role is a newly created role in Norwich Medical School on the main University campus, located within the Department of Clinical Psychology and Psychological Therapies, following wider expansion and recent commissioning intentions for professional training activities in Mental Health Law. Given the nature of the role and delivery, the post holder would be supported to conduct most elements of the role from home.
The post is advertised following an initial roll-out of a Mental Health CPD programme, which was developed in response to wider demand for enhancing the number and knowledge of Multi Professional Approved Clinicians (MPACs) in NHS services.
The primary purpose of the post is to support the further development of this programme. There are two key components to this. The first is the ongoing delivery of the existing programme in line with commissioning requirements and expectations. This will involve contributing to teaching sessions, currently scheduled on a Friday, and to be delivered remotely, to groups of senior clinicians who are completing practice portfolios for subsequent qualification as MPACs. The second component supporting the further development of this programme, specifically working alongside the Programme Lead to develop the programme curriculum and assessment content through university structures to become a certificated programme at PGCert or PGDip level.
It is envisaged that, in the long-term, the role would develop in line with commissioning requirements and expectations and support a wider development of a body of knowledge, research activity and scholarship in Mental Health Law within the School, Faculty, and wider University. This will involve collaboration also with partners in the highly-regarded UEA Law School, based in the historic Earlham Hall building on the UEA campus. It may involve providing academic input towards other programmes in the department, School and/or Faculty as this body of expertise develops.
Applicants would be expected to have an appropriate legal professional qualification and relevant teaching and training experience, which would ideally include teaching and training both within and outside the academic context.
There is 0.2fte currently available which could be offered as a single 0.2fte appointment or two 0.1fte appointments depending on interest. Please make your preference explicit on the application form. Whilst the working pattern will be determined following discussion with the successful applicant, given the current configuration of the training programme, this would include key Fridays when the MHL MPAC programme is to be delivered.
This part-time (up to 0.2fte), indefinite post is available immediately.
