Senior Research Associate in Health Economics (Mental Health) (full-time or part-time considered at a minimum of 0.7fte, fixed term from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024)
£35,333 to £42,155 per annum, pro rata for part-time
The Health Economics Group at the University of East Anglia (UEA) are seeking a Senior Research Associate to contribute to the group’s growing work in Mental Health research. This role is facilitated by the NIHR Applied Research Collaboration, East of England (ARC EoE), and funded by an Evelyn Trust Health and Wellbeing grant.
You will contribute to an economic analysis of a Staff Mental Health Service (SMHS) in Cambridge and Peterborough NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT). Since COVID-19, rates of poor mental health amongst NHS staff have risen sharply. In response to this urgent need for mental health support, the Trust set up the rapid access service for NHS staff across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It is among the first of such services in the UK. This project aims to create an evidence base that can be used by other services, and will assist commissioners, researchers, and policy makers in providing appropriate mental health support to NHS staff.
You will be based at UEA in Norwich, working with a multidisciplinary team of researchers, clinicians and patient and public representatives from the mental health community across CPFT, and the University of Cambridge.
As a group we encourage personal development and capacity building. As project demands permit, you will have the opportunity to help deliver other related health economic and outcomes research, particularly in the context of mental health research. You may also have the opportunity to assist with the preparation of funding bids, research governance (e.g. ethics applications or funding reports), supervision of students or others working in this area, and similar research tasks.
The post is ideally suited to an individual with a background in health economics, or similar field with a major quantitative component (e.g. health services research, data analysis, data science or decision modelling). Applicants must be familiar with methods of health economic evaluation and/or decision modelling. Experience of economic studies in public health and/or mental health would be advantageous.
This is a fixed term post from 1 April 2023 to 31 March 2024. It is anticipated the post may be extended (subject to confirmation of available funding).
