Are you interested in working in events?

Would you like to gain experience of both public and student-facing events in a university setting?

If so we would love to hear from you!

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a confident and enthusiastic events professional to join UEA’s Public Engagement and Events team, working on a range of both public and student events.

The post will cover a vacancy in the team owing to staff reorganisation during a maternity leave.

You will enjoy being part of the team supporting the planning and delivery of public engagement events with the aim of strengthening the University’s external reputation, together with delivery of events to support Welcome Week for new students. Due to the nature of the work, there will be some unsociable hours including occasional early mornings and late nights.

Previous experience of working in an administrative role including either event or customer relationship management is essential, as is the ability to work in a demanding environment with tight deadlines. You will need excellent organisational and interpersonal skills and have the ability to work creatively, and problem solve.

Working hours are 36.25 per week Monday to Friday, with additional hours (paid overtime or time off in lieu) as necessary. Benefits include generous holiday entitlement with additional privilege days, staff development, working in a beautiful campus environment and an excellent pension scheme.

The post is available from 3 January 2023 on a full-time, fixed-term basis of up to 10 months.

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.

Closing date: 8 December 2022.

The University is committed to diversifying its workforce. As examples, we already hold an Athena SWAN Silver Institutional Award in recognition of our advancement towards gender equality. We also have a Vice-Chancellor led Taskforce on Tackling Racism and a Race Equality Charter Working Group which support our work on race equality. Our aim is to submit to the Race Equality Charter in 2024.
