£63,673 to £67,541 per annum

We are seeking to appoint a Professor of Education to our highly successful School of Education and Lifelong Learning at the University of East Anglia (UEA). As a school, we are committed to building innovative and diverse educational practices, an interdisciplinary learning experience and problem-focused approaches that promote social justice. We are embarking on an exciting period of development in research, teaching and public engagement. We welcome applications from senior academics with a track record of excellence in educational research, research leadership, teaching, and knowledge exchange activity. 
 
The School hosts the UNESCO Chair in Adult Literacy and Social Transformation, and has well-established research domains.  

  • Pedagogy, Curriculum and Professional Learning– focusing on the development and support of applied and practice-based research in education 
  • International Education and Social Change - focusing on educational policies and practices across the globe that influence social transformation 
  • Lifelong Learning Cultures– focusing on the broader socio-cultural and material contexts in/through which learning and transformation happens. 
 
Applications are invited from those with specialist expertise in any area of educational research that will enhance our research reputation and contribute to our versatility across research domains. We particularly welcome applicants with expertise in any of these areas: 

  • Early childhood education  
  • Studying the relationship between global/social challenges and education (such as climate change, migration, decolonisation) 
  • Substantial methodological expertise (such as critical policy analysis, quantitative approaches, creative/arts-based approaches) 
  • Art/humanities and science education 
 
If you have a distinctive national and international reputation in your field and a willingness to take a leading role in a collaborative, interdisciplinary research and teaching environment, and can demonstrable ability to design and deliver high-quality, inspirational teaching in higher education, we would be keen to hear from you.

The post is available on a full-time basis from 1 April 2023 or earlier if possible. 

UEA offers a variety of flexible working options and although this role is advertised on a full-time basis, we encourage applications from individuals who would prefer a flexible working pattern including annualised hours, compressed working hours, part time, job share, term-time only and/or hybrid working. Details of preferred hours should be stated in the personal statement and will be discussed further at interview.
