Full-Time 1.0 fte, Fixed Term
The School of Environmental Sciences is seeking a senior research associate to investigate the linkages between large-scale climate variability and the ocean carbon cycle. The research will involve exploring the relationships between observed climate variability and various measures of the global carbon cycle. You will assess the linkages between 1) various aspects of atmospheric dynamic variability using both observations and atmospheric reanalyses and 2) measurements of atmospheric CO2 concentrations, atmospheric oxygen levels, and fugacity of carbon dioxide from the Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas. The researcher will work with PIs who are experts in atmospheric dynamical processes and the atmospheric and oceanic carbon cycle.
The post will include:
- Exploring the relationships between observed climate variability and various measures of the global carbon cycle using atmospheric reanalyses, measurements of atmospheric CO2 concentrations, atmospheric oxygen levels, and fugacity of carbon dioxide from the Surface Ocean CO2 Atlas.
- Collaborating with scientists at UEA and other UK institutes.
- Presenting results at project meetings, workshops and international conferences
- Leading and contributing to scientific publications based on this research
You will have an emerging international publication profile and be able to take a lead role in writing and communicating high quality research outputs from the project in collaboration with other members of the team.
The post would suit someone who has (or is soon to be awarded) a PhD (or equivalent qualification or experience) in Meteorology, Physics or a related subject. The successful candidate needs to be able to meet all of the essential criteria set out in the Person Specification.
This full-time post is available from 1 March 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter, for a fixed term period of up to 18 months.
Closing Date: Monday 28 November 2022
