Senior Research Associate in Low-Carbon Innovation and Consumers (RA1496)
£32,548 - £38,833 per annum
This post offers an exciting opportunity to research the adoption and diffusion of low-carbon goods and services by early-adopting and mainstream consumers.
The post holder will design and conduct novel empirical research on low-carbon innovations which are or may be appealing to consumers, but which are currently on the fringes of mainstream markets. Examples include: electric vehicles or car sharing (mobility); internet of things or heat pumps (homes); smart urban infrastructure or citizen science for data collection (cities); digitally-enabled food waste reduction or urban food growing (food); peer-to-peer electricity trading or vehicle-to-grid (energy supply).
This post is funded by the European Research Council (ERC) as part of the 'SILCI' project (Social Influence and disruptive Low Carbon Innovations, see: silci.org). The post holder will join a project team of Dr Charlie Wilson (P-I), Dr Hazel Pettifor (senior researcher) and three PhD researchers. The post holder will also be fully integrated into the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research and its established research and policy networks.
You will have a minimum of a PhD or equivalent experience in a relevant field, and be able to fulfil all essential elements of the person specification.
The full time post is available from 1 May 2018 for a fixed term period of 28 months, (until 31 August 2020) and based in the Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research at the University of East Anglia in Norwich, UK. There is some flexibility in start date, location and part-time working - please contact Charlie Wilson to discuss, or note your preferences in your application. Experienced researchers are encouraged to apply (with remuneration commensurate with experience).
Closing date: 6 March 2018
